Musical Playtime with the Teletubbies is an irresistible idea, of course. Music comes naturally to these four plush-covered critters who so won the hearts of their intended pre-school viewers while completely baffling their parents. This themed collection is yet another example of how the Teletubbies invite their audience to identify with them, here through an activity that is central to playgroup, school, birthday parties and the world at large. Of course, like their viewers, they not only make music and dance but fall over and laugh a lot, which is the only way to be when you've just been playing a tune on your tubby custard bowls.

The episodes of real-world footage are always engaging too, especially as they generally involve groups of children getting up to, well, exactly the sort of stuff which is fun to get up to. Here there's a particularly effective episode featuring a music and dance group working in a school, teaching the bootie-shaking "boom-boom dance". --Roger Thomas
