A disgusting disappointment August 24, 2007 Klayton Swenson The biggest turnoff of this special to me was how much crude humor it contained. Dil's pattened "poopy" catchphrase was used way too much (not to mention was already getting way old) and Phil's pants kept falling of resulting in the viewer seeing the place where the sun don't shine far too many times. Aunt Moo was also given way too much face time and didn't really fit in well with the main rugrats cast. I was annoyed that none of the grownups appeared and would've rather seen one of them narrate the story instead of Taffy or whatever the heck her name was. As for the way the story was told, it seemed like something on the level of really young kids of like 3 or 4 year olds. Being a diehard Rugrats fan I was disappointed in this movie special and advise everyone else to pass on ordering it.
It was okay October 19, 2006 M Felix (originally 4 CA cities. Now (Northeast) Tacoma, WA 98422) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
"Rugrats - Tales From the Crib - Three Jacks & a Beanstalk" wasn't as good as other Rugrats specials. there were too many essential Rugrats characters missing : Spike and the children's parents. the character of Aunt Moo was made the star. To me, Mo'Nique was the wrong person to voice Aunt Moo. Everytime I heard Mo'Nique, I couldn't help but overhear, ""I hate skinny B!+(#es!". Anyways, The storyline could have been much better.
Not Very Good... "Snow White" Is Better September 7, 2006 W. Hentschel (FL, USA) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
First off, I wanted to rate this DVD higher. I love the Rugrats and I really want the creators to keep making more specials! The first "Tales" movie was pretty good. But the truth is, "Three Jacks" wasn't so great. I don't know... I guess I expected a better Rugrats movie, especially since it was delayed for so long. This film skews to an even younger audience than the TV show. Honestly, I felt like this one was made for the Nick Jr. crowd... Some negative points: * There are NO grown-ups in this movie (they were present in Snow White, so what gives?). * Spike the dog is not here either (but Fluffy is). * The cow character, Aunt Moo, was made the star of this movie... She is given too much screen time, way more than Angelica and Harold. This is my biggest complaint. * Susie sings at the end... a la "All Grown Up". * Polka music (we also learn that Phil hates polkas). * Dil still makes many 'poopie' remarks. On the plus side: * Phil cracks plenty of jokes. * Angelica really makes a great evil giant. She even has her "All Grown Up" music. * The film is pretty long, and has 2 bonus episodes. If you have a young kid, he or she will definitely enjoy the movie. If you must buy a "Tales" DVD, "Snow White" is the better of the two. On an end note, I hope this poor movie is not the swan song for Rugrats!
